requiem

people and places
no where to turn

this morning
i decided
to sing

i set on
no plan of action
only knowing the end

in the beginning
i was clean
i took direction
but went my own way
i stopped and i pointed
but the world spun me back
so i took to the sidewalk
and followed the signs

i reached a great valley
a valley of ants
i watched
learned their way
acted among them
i too was an ant
and everyday i did the same thing

one day it rained
the ants dissapeared
but the drops felt to me
a welcome change
i looked up to the mountain
and decided to climb
i wondered why
i hadn't before

at the top to my surprise
climbing up the other side
i found myself

startled at sight
we fought to the death
but i prevailed

with my last breath
i let out a cry
that echoed my first
and i was buried
at the summit
