What did you use to entice it into the cage? Its not as gross as I would have thought but I still wouldn't have but it in my car but I guess that is just me. Im not too big on animals that are pests. Are you going to keep catching some more rats and relocating them?

We didn't initially use the traps that kill because we didn't want to get grossed out and/or out of some misguided sense of sympathy for filthy animals.
We used peanut butter in the trap. It didn't work for the first week, so we finally put out two lethal spring traps. The same night we put out the lethal traps, we left out the cage b/c we figured three traps is better than two.
That same night the cage finally caught one, whereas both of the lethal traps had the bait eaten off. One of the lethal traps had gone off but no rat.
We put the cage into a box and into the trunk of our car and released the rat at the airport. After this experience, I personally was still grossed out so I'm seriously rethinking the misguided sympathy for filthy animals. In addition, I'm concerned that while we are solving our rat problem we are possibly training super rats of NIMH that will be that much harder for someone else to kill. But we'll probably still put out the cage again for the time being while I wrestle with these practical and moral concerns since the current score is:

Listen I am generally a don't kill animals because what did they ever do to you type of person. Well except when it comes to eating animals but thats different. If its a pest and invading your space I think you have the right to kill it becuase it would kill you if it could if you invaded its space, its what us animals are programmed to do, protect ours.
